Program Description

Event Details

The library’s digital content includes The Great Courses, a video-on-demand service for lifelong learners. Each month we’ll meet 4 times to sample a portion of one of the many courses offered available in our Great Courses collection.

Meetings will consist of a 30 minute video lecture, followed by a discussion. In May we’ll cover the 1st four lectures from The History and Archaeology of the Bible , presented by Professor Jean-Pierre Isbouts.

This course offers an in-depth overview of the most important archaeological discoveries related to stories in the Bible, from Genesis to the Gospels. It is deliberately presented from a nondenominational perspective and is accessible to everyone. It does not conform to any particular theological orientation but treats the biblical texts as historical documents and treats every biblical story as a valued conveyor of meaning, regardless of its putative historicity.

Lecture 3 The Journeys of Abraham

Registration is required.   For more information, please call, email or inquire at your local branch
