The August 24 title is The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger.  Published in 1951, it is one of the most important American novels of the late 20th century.  It has also regularly appeared on lists of banned books.  Its adolescent hero, Holden Caulfield, battles what he sees as the “phoniness” of adult American life.  Contact the Spring Hill Branch for a copy of the book and the discussion questions.
