Spring Hill Book Discussion

The January 25 title is the novel, Commonwealth, by Ann Patchett.  Spanning 50 years, this exploration of family relationships opens in the 1960s, at a party in California, where Bert breaks up the marriage of Beverly. They go on to tie the knot, forcing their six stepkids into a new living situation.  Patchett chronicles the ways domestic reconfiguration influences family members.  One daughter shares the story of her early years with her lover, a novelist, who uses it as foundation for a new book--a runaway hit that makes the family face up to its past.
