Event Details

The February 28 book is "The Sweetness of Water" by Nathan Harris.  Longlisted for the Booker Prize.  In a small Georgia town, after the Emancipation Proclamation, George Walker is grieving for son Caleb, a Confederate soldier believed to be dead.  When George meets Prentiss and Landry, freed brothers who’d been enslaved on the neighboring plantation, he offers them work converting his land to a peanut farm. Then George’s son returns, a deserter to his own side.
