The author’s eccentric Filipina mother shot a BB gun at a man she caught stealing mangoes from her beloved trees in 2015.  Her mom’s arrest sent the author down a rabbit hole of self-discovery, sifting through how her formative years spent in a violent, multiracial household impacted her search for a sense of belonging.
