Program Description

Event Details

Join us to discuss Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver, a co-recipient of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. In this lyrical re-dreaming of Dickens’ David Copperfield, the social injustices of Victorian England have been transplanted to modern-day Appalachia, to Lee County, Virginia, where the rural white underclass is now ravaged by the opioid crisis. The serious subject matter belies the fun Kingsolver has with her endlessly inventive adaptation. For adults. Space is limited. Registration required.
